  • Stochastic Flakes Material | VRayStochasticFlakesMtl Knowledge

Does anyone have any good tutorial on this material works? I understand the way it can work for metals, but yo get a true blend material car paint \ snow seems to give me trouble. I place this material as a basecoat but the results are not as expected. This material also does not show up in a mtl Select. My uses seem very limited.

    thank you for help!

The material select thing is a bug and will be fixed. For the rest, can you post some examples?

    Best regards,

This is a basic example of a car paint shader. This is how i would traditionally do this and bring the mtl selects into nuke for further compositing. Please tell me what is wrong with this setup, if anything. In the VRayStochasticFlakesMtl - have a fall off with two variation of red. this is connected to a blend that then has a spec and separate reflection material.Click image for larger version

Specifically i am also interested in the use of this material in snow scenes. I have a lot of snow stuff coming my way and would love to test this method out.

        Hi,

this seems like a valid basic setup, but can you share render and shot of the stochastic flakes parameters? Can you explain a bit more what is the problem?

        Best regards,
        Ase

Just my own view on car paints. I would have diffuse as the base, then the stochastic, maybe a couple of these, then the gloss coat. I used the beta version and created these. Maybe a good example as you can see each layer I used.
